About the Contest

Can you tell a meaningful and interesting true story from your life in just 100 words? That’s the challenge New York Times posts to teenagers with the 100-Word Personal Narrative Contest.

Contest Schedule

OCT. 4-NOV. 1, 2023

Recommended to Students

- Aiming for developing writing skills

- Simulating college application essay writing (the essence between the two is similar, meaning students can develop their narrative and persuasive writing skills, which is key to writing good personal statements.)

- Enriching extracurricular activity profile
