约翰洛克写作竞赛(John Locke Essay Competition)从极富趣味性和挑战力的写作题目出发,旨在培养参赛者的议论文写作能力,考察参赛者对于不同学科领域独立深刻的见解、广博的认知、清晰的说理能力、批判性地分析思维能力和说服力。鼓励年轻人培养将好学生变成伟大作家的特质:独立思考、知识深度、推理清晰、批判性分析和说服力。征文比赛邀请学生探索学校课程范围之外的各种具有挑战性和有趣的问题。
参加John Locke写作竞赛可以积累知识,提高论证技巧。评委们将从七个学科类别中的每一个类别中选出他们最喜欢的文章,以及一个适合15岁以下儿童的低年级组别,还会从哲学、政治、经济学、历史、心理学、神学和法律这七个学科中选出一篇“最佳论文”。此前参赛者被牛津、剑桥、普林斯顿、哈佛、耶鲁、斯坦福、芝加哥、加州伯克利等名校录取。
02John Locke特点及含金量
John Locke论文竞赛的奖项由以牛津大学为主的学者团体评定。
比赛受到英美各大优质院校的认可,可以说该竞赛是近几年文、社科类含金量最高的竞赛之一,每年的参与学生都被普林斯顿,哈佛,耶鲁等各大名校录取。

03John Locke考察形式
全球学生均有资格参赛,其中分为高年级组和低年级组。
高年级组设置7个话题,分别是:
哲学Philosophy、政治学Politics、经济学Economics、历史History、心理学Psychology、神学Theology、法学Law
低年级组不细分话题,提供具体写作题目。

一篇好的议论文应该遵循这样的结构:

结论应该总结你的论点并重申你的论点。一个好的结论总是很难写的,一个好的起点是让你的结论个人化,包括一个轶事或与主题相关的个人故事。
