Sight Words 就是英文常用词的意思，除了自然拼读法，Sight Words 是英语阅读的重要 “拐杖”。几乎所有英语为母语的学校，都会专门教孩子学习这些常用词。
掌握了一定数量的 Sight Words，学生就能比较顺利地开始自我阅读了。因为多数儿童读物其中约 75% 的用词就是这些 Sight Words。
什么是Sight Words？
Sight Words，顾名思义，就是一入视觉就立即能反应的词汇。
Sight Words 是儿童阅读初期的常用词，约有 220 个。
它是由美国学者 Dolch 针对英语儿童读物做了系统分析和统计后整理出来的最常使用的词。这些词在英语教科书，图书，报章，杂志中的出现率为 60-85%。
Sight Words有什么用？
有了这 220 个词，阅读的文章中，就意味着 60% 的单词都认识。一般情况下一篇文章，至少有50%的单词，都是由Sight words构成的；孩子学会Sight words之后，能理解任何文章至少一半的意思。
然后再配合相应的阅读难度的书进行阅读练习，就会极大地提高阅读速度，以及阅读流利性，进而会有助于对文章内容的理解。
220 个 Sight Words
这部分词汇在国外的学校教育中是小学三年级必须要完成的内容，而这些却是中国的英语教学中缺失的部分。
按照学校的英语教育分级，词汇由易到难列明如下：
