Do you usually buy jewelry?

I used to yes, especiallyearrings. I’d alwaysstop atearring stallswheneverIencounteredthem, and even now ifI’mout and about, and see a shop, I’ll stop andhave a browse. I like looking at all the different materials and designs.AndI think earrings are something that displays a person’s personality andmood, but notin aflamboyantwayusually; they don’t have thedazzleofnecklacesfor example.But wheneverI travel, I’ll alwaysend upbuying at leasta pair of earringsfrom that place.For instance, a few years ago,I was in south India for a weekand that’s whereI bought a pair of peacock-shapedearrings anda set of banglesfrom aroadside stall,and theyact as a reminder thatI should visit there againat some point.

What type of jewelry do you like to buy?

As I just mentioned,I enjoy looking at and buying earrings and sometimes bracelets.As a result,I’m alwaystempted tostop at anaccessorystore or a simple roadside stall and buy a few pieces. I have a box full of jewelrykeepsakesandonce in a whileI’ll take them out and enjoy the designs and colors.In fact,it gives mea lot of pleasureby just sitting back and appreciating them.

Why do you think some people wear a piece of jewelry for a long time?

Hmm, well, I think there are probably a few reasons.One is thatsome pieces of jewelry are afamily heirloom, for example,a ring a motherpasses down toher daughter and the daughter is supposed to always wear it, orit’s a reminder of some important occasion,for instance,a wedding ring, so I guess you can call thatsentimentality.And of course,the other reason is thatjewelry can make a personlook more attractive. It can adda touch of mystery, orallure, orclass,or for that matter, make people seem a little moresophisticated.Oh, another reason that comes to mind, is that jewelry can be a sort of status symbol.You know, look at me, I’mwearing Cartiersort of thing.So thoseareat leastthree reasonsfor why somewillregularlywear a jewelry piece foran extended period of time, I think.
