Do you often wear jewelry?”
“Do you often wear jewelry?”
“no, I barely wear jewelry, because I am still a high school students, wearing jewelry to school is an obvious violation of student’s code of conduct and is clearly forbidden in my school. Besides, my financial condition as a student apparently can’t support me to buy luxuries like gemstones or diamonds, but in my after-school time, I occasionally wear some cheap accessories like necklaces or bracelets. Maybe wearing expensive jewelry is one of things I will try in the future.”
· Violate 违反
· Code of conduct
“No, never, because I never considered jewelry as an essential in my life. To me, buying expensive gemstones or diamonds is an irrational behavior, cause these supposedly mundane possessions are sold at high prices just because of marketing strategies, the jewelry merchants wanted to portray these objects as luxuries and convince consumers that these are necessary ornamentations that can make you look elegant and look like the upper class of the society, the socially prominent people. I am not falling in that trap, to me, my money can be spent for better uses.”
· Mundane adj.
· Possession n.
· Ornamentation n. 装饰
· Upper class/socially prominent
