Theabnormallyhigh abundance of predatorsled to a feedback in which the abundant predator trophic level controlled the abundance of the island's herbivorous insects, thereby further contributing to their rarity on the islands. This lessens the insect damage to plants. Hence the effects of the subsidy reverberate throughout the entire island food web.
Based on the passage, adecline in the abundance of predatoryspiders on the Baja California islands would most likely lead to 【注意题目和原文在取了个反,原文是 high,题目是decline】
A)an imbalance in the marine food chain.
B)an increase in plant damage caused by insects.C) a rise in resource flows across ecosystem boundaries.
D) a reduction in the subsidy received by detritivorous insects.
It wasonlyin an urban landscape, amid straight lines and architecture, that she couldsituate herself in human time and history. As a novelist she needed this. Shemissed people. She missed human intrigue, drama and power struggles. She needed her own species.
